The story of Hikey began at the closing of their freshman year of college. Finals week was finally over, and like most underclassmen with a desire to leave campus for a taste of freedom, Heidi and Mikey were both desperate to borrow a car. Coincidentally, they found the same car through mutual friends and their paths converged. Little did they know, this need for a car would change the course of their lives forever. They continued to spend time together over the summer of 2018, and their connection grew stronger with each passing day. On August 10, 2018, amidst the comfort of O'Malley's wings and beer (only for Heidi, as Mikey was still only 19), Mikey mustered up the courage to ask Heidi to be his girlfriend. From that moment on, their journey together officially began.

Throughout their time at the Academy, they navigated the ups and downs of their relationship with laughter, love, and unwavering support for one another. Whether it was the upcoming engineering final…bullying Billy together through basic training, or stuffing their faces with food all over Colorado Springs, their love only grew stronger.

Upon graduation in 2021, their paths diverged as Mikey crossed into the Navy, while Heidi remained in the Air Force. Despite the distance between them, their relationship matured immensely as they faced the challenges of a long-distance relationship head-on. Through countless phone calls, FaceTimes, and visits whenever possible, they remained committed to each other and their shared future.

Three years into their long-distance relationship, and despite the lack of support of O’Malley’s wings, Heidi accepted Mikey’s proposal.

Finally, after seven long and rewarding years of overcoming obstacles together, they stand on the brink of a new chapter in their lives. With hearts full of love and excitement, they look forward to finally closing the distance and embarking on this next journey as husband and wife. Their love story may have started as two college kids craving a Chipotle burrito, but it continues to flourish and thrive, fueled by the bond they share (over Chipotle burritos) and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.
